Frankenstein
"Frankenstein is meant to be a fairy tale. It is the novel approached through the memory of the films. It is meant to be played 'straight', not as a modern play, but as a Victorian one. It is meant first and foremost to entertain and to engage the imagination. It is a story, not a 'theme', and if you tell the story well, then whatever else is has to say will undoubtedly be heard."
-Victor Gialanella, playwright
With all that said, this version of Frankenstein does away with the B-movie images that some of us have come to accept as part of the legend (the hunchbacked lab assistant, the thick-soled flat-topped mono-syllabic monster) and instead offers a very deep and profound insight to words like "life," "creator," "friend," "companion," and "love."
