On the Town Parent Meeting

Dear Parents of Participants in On The Town,

Please join Director Christopher Gerken and Whitman Drama Boosters for an information meeting regarding the fall musical Monday, September 19th, at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. Your student can attend Clubs Night, which starts at 7 pm and our meeting will be over in time for you to attend the PTSA meeting at 7:30 if you so choose.

We look forward to seeing you!

Flock Your Friends!

A flock of 10 flamingos will decorate the lawn of your choice for 24 hours for $20.  Email Whitman Props whitmanprops@gmail.com to order and make your payment at pay4schoolstuff.com. Additional flocks or days may be requested. Great for graduations, birthdays, and general surprise! A sender’s note may be requested when you order.

Flocking runs from May 19- June 4.  Have some Flocking Fun and benefit the production costs of the Scotland trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

Get Ready for the Whitman Drama Banquet

Save the date! Whitman’s annual drama banquet will be held Saturday, May 20, at the Jane Lawton Community Center (formerly known as the Leland Center) in Chevy Chase, 5-9 pm.

All students who participated in any of this year’s Whitman Drama productions are invited for a seated dinner. Parents will be invited for dessert and awards. More information to come!

Crucible Parent Volunteers Needed

Parents: We need your help to make the winter play a success.  Please sign up for any of the volunteer slots available here. You can always modify later, but we really do need parents to help out!  Thanks in advance.

Join Us for a Special Evening at Arena Stage

Please joins us on Friday, December 2nd at 8 pm for a special evening of musical theater at Arena Stage’s production of Rodger and Hammerstein’s beloved classic, Carousel.  Dazzling lights, swinging songs and a bad boy to melt your heart — see why Carousel is the perfect show for the holiday season. This epic production is bursting with classic songs like “June Is Bustin’ Out all Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

Walt Whitman graduate Kyle Schliefer will play the role of Jigger Craigin in the Arena production. Kyle will speak to the Whitman Drama Booster group immediately after the show and share his drama experiences post Whitman.

Tickets are $40 for students and $70 for adults.

Please send an email to lovecraven@gmail.com if you would like to purchase tickets.
Deadline for purchase is October 31st.

Cast Party Help Needed

Thank you so much for those who have already volunteered to help with the show. We still really need some folks who are willing and able to help with the cast party–chaperones and those willing to lead the charge. These can be cast, crew, and/or pit parents, so please join us in making sure we have a cast party for the entire group of students working on this production. The Bannockburn Clubhouse has already been reserved, so that part is all done!

Sign up and view all the volunteer slots here.
