Dr. Goodwin has recently hired theater educator and director Jonathan Rizzardi to direct the winter play, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Jonathan has experience in MCPS schools and has worked with students at Imagination Stage and Round House Theater, among other places. The Whitman administration will undertake another process to hire a permanent replacement for Christopher Gerken over the next few months. Please contact Whitman Drama Boosters’ co-presidents Amy Strent: email@example.com, or Jill Chenok: firstname.lastname@example.org, with any questions or suggestions.
Parents of students involved in Whitman Drama are asked to sign up for the group’s listserv by sending an email identifying yourself and your student to whitmantheaternet-subscribe
Whitman Drama Boosters is looking for someone to take over the administration of this website next school year–an important way to support the program. A moderate level of experience with hosted websites is helpful. Please email Amy or Jill if you can help. We will put you in touch with the current administrator who can answer all your questions.

Please joins us on Friday, December 2nd at 8 pm for a special evening of musical theater at Arena Stage’s production of Rodger and Hammerstein’s beloved classic, Carousel. Dazzling lights, swinging songs and a bad boy to melt your heart — see why Carousel is the perfect show for the holiday season. This epic production is bursting with classic songs like “June Is Bustin’ Out all Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Walt Whitman graduate Kyle Schliefer will play the role of Jigger Craigin in the Arena production. Kyle will speak to the Whitman Drama Booster group immediately after the show and share his drama experiences post Whitman.
Tickets are $40 for students and $70 for adults.
Thank you so much for those who have already volunteered to help with the show. We still really need some folks who are willing and able to help with the cast party–chaperones and those willing to lead the charge. These can be cast, crew, and/or pit parents, so please join us in making sure we have a cast party for the entire group of students working on this production. The Bannockburn Clubhouse has already been reserved, so that part is all done!
